Psy has performed “Gangnam Style” all over the world. Well, everywhere except South Korea’s Gangnam district, which was the inspiration for the track. That is until today (June 18).
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Psy performed his viral hit in Seoul’s now famous district of Gangnam for the very first time in honor of the World Cup. Fans were hoping to hear Psy’s new track “Hangover” featuring Snoop Dogg, but Psy said he needed to perform his biggest hit in hopes to rouse the fans of South Korea’s soccer team. The team was set to play their first game in Brazil against Russia, which ended in a 1-1 tie.
“I won’t be singing my recently released song today,” Psy told the crowd. “I can’t sing about hangovers when cheering for our national team.”

Psy reportedly wore red pants and a matching red bow tie in honor of South Korea’s team. “I’ve been cheering for the World Cup since 2002, but it’s so early in the morning,” Psy said about his 6 am performance. “You are the most innocent looking audiences I’ve ever had.”
